Jakarta (ANTARA) - Roy Suryo, a suspect in an alleged defamation and libel case concerning the authenticity of the diploma of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo, has stated he is prepared to face a second pretrial hearing at the South Jakarta District Court regarding the legality of his designation as a suspect.

“Do not forget, we will continue to fight this; there will be a second pretrial hearing this Friday,” said Roy Suryo following the verdict of the pretrial hearing at the South Jakarta District Court on Tuesday.

He stated that the second pretrial would be part of the ongoing legal efforts undertaken by his legal team.

The South Jakarta District Court is scheduled to hold the pretrial hearing for Roy Suryo regarding the validity of the suspect designation on Friday (10/7) at 09:00 WIB.

The specific details of the petition will be explained later by his legal counsel.

“The second pretrial is this Friday (10/7), and the contents of the petition will be presented in due course,” he said.

Roy also confirmed that he will continue to participate in the main trial proceedings, which will take place at the East Jakarta District Court.

“Today we concluded the pretrial in South Jakarta. We will also follow the main case in East Jakarta,” he added.

Furthermore, Roy revealed that his legal team has filed an unlawful act (PMH) lawsuit in the North Jakarta District Court.

“Yesterday, we filed an unlawful act lawsuit in North Jakarta against an individual named Lecumana,” he noted.

Roy assessed that the judge’s pretrial ruling marks the beginning of his struggle for a more equitable legal process. He also expressed his appreciation to the single judge presiding over the case.

The single judge of the South Jakarta District Court, I Ketut Darpawan, partially granted Roy Suryo’s pretrial petition, declaring that the searches, arrests, and detentions carried out by the Metro Jaya Regional Police were invalid.

However, the judge rejected Roy’s request to declare the investigation files invalid, as well as the request to prevent the public prosecutor from issuing a detention order, ruling that such matters fall outside the jurisdiction of a pretrial hearing.
