Roy Suryo Files Pre-Trial Motion Challenging Legality of Search in Jokowi Diploma Case

Roy Suryo has not ceased his legal resistance in the case concerning allegations of a fake diploma belonging to Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi). After being named a suspect and having his case file transferred to the prosecution, Roy has now filed a pre-trial motion with the South Jakarta District Court. This legal step was taken to test the validity of the search action conducted by investigators during the handling of the case. According to data listed in the Case Tracking Information System (SIPP) of the South Jakarta District Court, the pre-trial petition was registered on Monday, 22 June 2026, under case number 99/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL. In the lawsuit, Roy is suing the police and prosecution involved in the case handling process. The first defendant is recorded as the Government cq the Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief cq the Director of General Criminal Investigation of Metro Jaya Police cq the Head of Sub-Directorate for State Security cq the Investigation Team. Meanwhile, the second defendant is the Government cq the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia cq the Deputy Attorney General for General Crimes at the Attorney General’s Office cq the Head of the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office. Although the petition has been registered, the full contents of the motion submitted by Roy have not yet been published by the court. The first hearing is scheduled for Monday, 29 June 2026, with the agenda of reading the petition. This pre-trial filing marks a new chapter in the case ensnaring Roy Suryo and Tifauziah Tyassuma, also known as Doctor Tifa, as both have just undergone the second phase of case transfer from the Metro Jaya Police to the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office. It was previously reported that after being detained by Metro Jaya Police investigators and transferred to the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office, Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa received a somewhat relieving decision. The prosecution decided not to detain the two suspects in the alleged fake diploma case of President Jokowi. However, their freedom is conditional. As a consequence, Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa are required to report regularly to the prosecutor’s office while the legal process is ongoing. ‘Furthermore, the suspects are subject to a mandatory report once every week,’ said the Head of the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office, Marcelo Bellah, on Monday, 22 June 2026.
