Roy Suryo Files Fourth Pre-Trial Motion, Challenging Travel Ban

Roy Suryo, a suspect in the case concerning allegations of a fake diploma belonging to the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), has once again filed a pre-trial motion (praperadilan) at the South Jakarta District Court. This time, the motion concerns a travel ban.

“Yes, it is the fourth pre-trial, relating to the travel ban. The first hearing is on Friday,” said Roy Suryo’s lawyer, Abdul Gafur Sangaji, when contacted on Monday (3/8).

Previously, Roy had filed pre-trial motions three times in relation to the case ensnaring him.

The third pre-trial motion was registered by Roy at the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, and was recorded under case number 118/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL, classified as a “Compensation” matter.

In the third pre-trial motion, the first respondent was the Chief of the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police, specifically the Director of the General Crimes Investigation Directorate, the Head of the State Security Sub-Directorate, and the investigation team. The second respondent was the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office, specifically the Assistant for General Crimes of the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office, the Head of the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office, and the team of public prosecutors.

In that pre-trial motion, he asked the judge to order the respondents to pay material compensation of Rp106 million and immaterial damages of Rp100 million, bringing the total claim to Rp206 million.

Meanwhile, in the second pre-trial motion concerning his designation as a suspect, the first judge rejected the petition.

However, in the first pre-trial motion regarding the search, arrest and detention, the judge ruled in Roy’s favour.
