Roy Suryo Demands Rp206 Million Compensation in Third Pretrial Hearing

Suspect KMRT Roy Suryo is demanding compensation of Rp206 million in his third pretrial motion. The respondent in this pretrial is the Metro Jaya Police Chief, represented by the Director of General Criminal Investigation and the Head of the State Security Sub-Directorate, along with the High Prosecutor’s Office of DKI Jakarta, represented by the Head of the South Jakarta District Attorney’s Office and the prosecution team. “To order the respondent to pay compensation to the applicant: Material losses amounting to Rp106 million, immaterial losses amounting to Rp100 million. Total losses of Rp206 million,” said one of Roy Suryo’s legal representatives while reading the petition at the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (29/7). He stated that Roy Suryo suffered material losses as a result of his four-day detention. One of the losses was the lack of income from his personal YouTube account. “Loss of daily income, where if calculated based on the estimated average daily income of the Applicant from the views on the Roy Suryo Official YouTube channel is at least or approximately Rp3 million per day, multiplied by the number of days of detention, which is 4 days, so the total is 4 multiplied by Rp3 million, equalling Rp12 million,” he said. Other losses included legal consultation and litigation fees for advocates amounting to Rp5 million per day. This amount was multiplied by four days, totalling Rp20 million. Furthermore, the litigation costs for a team of 11 advocates for one pretrial package amounted to Rp30 million. Then, transportation and meal costs for 11 people over eight days totalled Rp44 million. “Thus, the immaterial losses in the form of attacks on honour, psychological burden, anxiety, and social stigma due to massive media coverage are aggravating factors that warrant appropriate compensation and should reasonably reach at least Rp100 million,” he added. This third pretrial was registered by Roy Suryo at the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, and is registered under case number: 118/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL with the case classification concerning “Compensation”. In the second pretrial regarding the determination of the suspect, sole judge I Ketut Darpawan rejected the petition. However, in the first pretrial concerning the search, arrest, and detention, judge I Ketut ruled in favour of Roy Suryo.
