Roy Suryo Attends Dr Tifa's First Trial at East Jakarta Court, Offers Direct Support

The former Minister of Youth and Sports, Roy Suryo, attended the first hearing of Dr Tifa at the East Jakarta District Court on Thursday, 2 July 2026. “The indictment is extensive,” Roy Suryo told reporters at the East Jakarta District Court on Thursday, 2 July 2026.

In addition to expressing his support, Roy Suryo also commented on the contents of the indictment read during the first hearing. According to him, the case faced by Dr Tifa is linked to allegations of defamation regarding the claims that President Joko Widodo’s undergraduate (S1) diploma is fraudulent.

Roy shared his views on the substance of the indictment presented in court. He noted that there are aspects of the legal process that he believes require close attention.

“It must be revealed; I did not hear the name Dian Sandi, even though that was clearly part of Dr Tifa’s post or analysis,” said Roy Suryo.

These remarks were made while responding to journalists after following the proceedings of Dr Tifa’s first hearing at the East Jakarta District Court.
