Roy Suryo Arrested Hours After Attending Discussion with National Figures in Bandung
Roy Suryo’s legal counsel, Ahmad Khozinudin, has highlighted the timing of his client’s arrest by Polda Metro Jaya investigators on Friday morning, 19 June 2026. According to Ahmad, Roy Suryo had only just arrived at his residence in the Bintaro area, Tangerang, at around 3 a.m. WIB after participating in a discussion with several national figures in Bandung. However, just a few hours after resting, the former Minister of Youth and Sports was picked up by investigators.
“Last night, when Pak Roy was picked up, he had just been resting. He arrived home at 3 a.m. from Bandung. So he had only rested for a few hours,” Ahmad told reporters at Polda Metro Jaya.
Ahmad explained that the day before the arrest, Roy Suryo attended a discussion forum in Bandung attended by a number of national figures. In the activity, Roy Suryo was present alongside retired TNI and Polri officers as well as community leaders discussing various national issues. According to Ahmad, the activity was part of a long-scheduled coordination and discussion.
“Yesterday we had just held a national discussion with retired TNI and police figures. There was Pak Tyasno Sudarto, Pak Oegroseno, Pak Said Didu, and many other figures who gathered in Bandung, including Pak Roy,” he said. After the event concluded, Roy Suryo returned to Jakarta and only arrived at his home in the early hours.
The legal team cited this condition as one of the reasons they are questioning the investigators’ decision to carry out the arrest in the morning. Ahmad stated that his client had not even had sufficient rest after the journey from Bandung before investigators arrived at the house. “He arrived at around 3 a.m. WIB, then in the morning at around 7 a.m. WIB the arrest was made,” he said. According to him, the family also did not have much time to prepare Roy Suryo’s personal necessities during the arrest process.
In addition to highlighting the timing of the arrest, Ahmad affirmed that Roy Suryo has always been cooperative throughout the ongoing legal process.
