Roy Suryo Arrested by Polda Metro Jaya, His Collection of 35 Mercedes-Benz Comes Under Scrutiny in Rp4.1 Billion LHKPN

The name Roy Suryo is back in the public spotlight following news of his arrest by Polda Metro Jaya investigators. Amid the ongoing legal case involving the former Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), details of his personal wealth have also come under scrutiny. Based on the State Administrators’ Wealth Report (LHKPN), which was last filed in 2018 when he was running as a Democratic Party candidate for the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) for the Yogyakarta electoral district, Roy Suryo recorded a total net worth of Rp4.19 billion. This figure represents his net wealth after deducting debts amounting to Rp893.44 million. His total reported assets reached Rp5.08 billion. Interestingly, the bulk of Roy Suryo’s wealth stems from a vehicle collection dominated by Mercedes-Benz cars of various types and production years. The 35-vehicle Mercedes-Benz collection is valued at Rp2.6 billion. In the LHKPN report, Roy Suryo’s largest assets fall under the transport and machinery category, with a total value reaching Rp2.62 billion. What drew attention was the sheer number of vehicles he owned. Roy is recorded as possessing 35 Mercedes-Benz units, most of which are classic and collector vehicles. These include Mercedes-Benz models manufactured in 1956, 1961, 1962, 1965, 1969, and various 1970s and 1980s models. Beyond the classics, Roy also owns several more modern models, such as a Mercedes-Benz SLK 230 from the year 2000 valued at Rp200 million, a Mercedes-Benz S 230 from 2000 valued at Rp150 million, a Mercedes-Benz ML 430 from 2003 valued at Rp97.8 million, a Mercedes-Benz A 150 from 2005 valued at Rp125 million, a 2010 Mercedes-Benz valued at Rp275 million, and a 2008 Mercedes-Benz valued at Rp225 million. The total value of all reported vehicles reached Rp2,621,300,000, accounting for more than half of Roy Suryo’s total assets. He also owns five property assets in Sleman. In addition to vehicles, Roy Suryo also reported the ownership of five land and building assets, all located in Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The total value of these property assets amounted to Rp1.61 billion. The largest asset is a plot of land and a building covering an area of 241 square metres and 250 square metres, recorded at a value of Rp500 million. Other properties have varied values ranging from Rp129 million to Rp445 million.
