Roy Suryo Notodiprojo was reportedly arrested by Polda Metro Jaya investigators on Friday morning, 19 June 2026. The news was conveyed by the Advocacy Team Against the Criminalisation of Academics and Activists (TA-AKAA), which has been assisting Roy Suryo throughout the legal process.

According to the advocacy team, information about the arrest was received at around 07.00 WIB from Roy Suryo’s wife. At almost the same time, the legal team also received word that Tifauzia Tyassuma had likewise been detained.

“Today, Friday 19 June 2026, at approximately 07.00 WIB, our client Roy Suryo Notodiprojo was informed by his wife that he had been arrested by Polda Metro Jaya investigators,” TA-AKAA wrote in its statement.

The news was immediately met with a response from the legal team, which questioned the investigators’ reasons for arresting Roy Suryo.

Deemed Cooperative During the Investigation Process

The advocacy team considers the arrest unnecessary, as Roy Suryo has reportedly always been cooperative in undergoing the legal process. According to them, Roy Suryo complied with summonses for questioning issued by investigators and routinely fulfilled his mandatory reporting obligations.

“We regret the actions of the Polda Metro Jaya investigators in carrying out a coercive measure through the arrest of our client, even though our client has been cooperative in complying with investigators’ summonses and has even always carried out mandatory reporting,” the legal team stated.

Highlighting Allegations That the Case File Is Complete

TA-AKAA also addressed circulating information that Roy Suryo’s case file had been declared complete. If that is indeed the case, they argue that investigators should simply have sent a summons letter for the purposes of the subsequent process. According to them, a summons mechanism is more appropriate than an arrest, given that Roy Suryo has never absconded from the ongoing legal process.

“If the action in question is for the purpose of stage two or as reported that the file is already complete, then such action could be carried out by issuing a summons letter,” the advocacy team said.

Preparing a Request for Detention Suspension

Following the arrest, the legal team has begun preparing further legal steps. They are inviting public figures and activists who have shown support for Roy Suryo to come to Polda Metro Jaya. Their presence is required as part of preparations for submitting a request for a suspension of detention, should it become necessary in the ongoing legal process.
