Polda Metro Jaya has provided an update on the arrest of suspects Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa in the case concerning allegations of a fake diploma against the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Roy and Dr Tifa were taken to the Polda Metro Jaya detention centre on Sunday evening.
“The latest update is that suspects Tifa and Roy S will be moved from the Kramat Jati Hospital tonight and accommodated overnight at the Polda Metro Jaya detention centre,” said Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, when contacted by journalists on Sunday (21/6/2026).
Budi stated that investigators are currently coordinating with the Kramat Jati Police Hospital regarding the transfer of the two suspects to the Polda Metro Jaya detention centre. “The current position is that investigators are still coordinating with the hospital regarding the transfer from the hospital to the Polda Metro Jaya detention centre,” he revealed.
He added that Roy and Dr Tifa will be handed over to the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office tomorrow at 09:00 WIB. “Furthermore, tomorrow at 09:00 in the morning, they will depart together from Polda Metro Jaya to the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office for stage two,” he said.
Previously, Polda Metro Jaya explained the arrest of Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa, suspects in the case of false diploma allegations against Jokowi. Both were detained in order to be handed over to the prosecutor’s office as the case file had been declared complete (P-21).
“This arrest is not a standalone action, but rather a continuation of the ongoing investigation process. The case file has been declared complete, or P-21, by the prosecutor’s office,” said Commissioner Budi Hermanto during a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya, Jakarta, on Friday (19/6).
Budi Hermanto explained that the evidence in the case had also been declared complete and met the requirements. He confirmed that all stages of the investigation process were conducted in accordance with criminal procedure law, upholding the principle of equality before the law. “Thus, this step has a clear and accountable legal basis,” said Budi Hermanto.
A similar statement was made by the Director of Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, who confirmed the detention of Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa on Friday (19/6). “The detention of the suspects, namely Mr RS and Ms TF, is part of a series of processes to carry out the handover of suspects and evidence from Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya investigators to the public prosecutor of the DKI High Prosecutor’s Office, in connection with the case file which has been declared complete or P-21,” explained Iman.
To ensure the suspects’ presence during the handover of suspects and evidence proceeds smoothly, investigators must confirm their whereabouts and attendance. “Furthermore, investigators will conduct a series of health checks on the suspects, both physical and mental, so that the suspects are fit and able to be held accountable for their actions,” he added.
During the process, the public prosecutor also confirmed the identities of Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa. The aim was to ensure that all evidence was as discovered during the investigation process. “We ensure that investigators will guarantee that the suspects’ rights and obligations are protected in accordance with applicable laws,” he stressed.
Iman added that throughout the entire series of investigations and examinations, both physical and mental, as well as the process of transferring responsibility for the suspects and evidence, investigators have always adhered to the Criminal Procedure Code and standard operating procedures in investigations. “To ensure balance and control over the ongoing investigation process, the Criminal Procedure Code provides room for testing through a pre-trial mechanism. Therefore, the suspects, their families, or their legal representatives may utilise the control and testing mechanisms regulated in the Criminal Procedure Code,” he concluded.
