Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa to Be Handed Over to Prosecutors After Case Files Declared Complete
The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have arrested Roy Suryo and Dr Tifauzia Tyassuma, suspects in the case of false allegations concerning the diploma of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), after their case files were declared complete. Following the arrest, both individuals will be handed over to the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office.
Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, stated that Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa were arrested by investigators from the State Security Sub-Directorate of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate on Friday, 19 June 2026. The arrest is part of the phase two handover process after the case files were declared complete by the prosecutor’s office.
“(The arrest) is part of the process of handing over the suspects and evidence from the General Criminal Investigation Directorate investigators to the public prosecutor at the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office, as the case files have been declared complete (P-21),” Senior Commissioner Iman said during a press conference at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters on Friday (19/6/2026).
To ensure the smooth transfer of the suspects in this phase two process, investigators must confirm the whereabouts and presence of the suspects. “Investigators will then conduct a series of health examinations on the suspects, both physical and mental, so that the suspects are fit and can be held accountable for their actions,” he added.
Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin stated that his party guarantees the rights and obligations of the suspects are protected. “We ensure that investigators will guarantee the rights and obligations of the suspects are protected in accordance with the law,” he added.
Iman explained that investigators will adhere to the Criminal Procedure Code regarding physical examinations and evidence. Investigators, Iman said, will also act in accordance with standard operating procedures for investigations. “Examinations, both physical and mental, the handover process, the responsibility of the suspects and evidence, investigators always adhere to the Criminal Procedure Code and standard operating procedures in the investigation process,” he stated.
The Jakarta Metropolitan Police stated they have no objection if Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa wish to file a pre-trial motion. He noted that this is regulated under the Criminal Procedure Code.
