Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa in Good Health After Arrest, Says Lawyer

The legal representative for Roy Suryo and Dr Tifauzia Tyassuma, Refly Harun, has stated that both clients are in good health while undergoing examination at the Police Hospital (RS Polri) in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta. “Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa, both are in good health,” Refly said at the hospital on Friday. He noted that neither had any health complaints during the legal process, and both were engaged in activities before being forcibly taken into custody. Refly revealed that his client Roy Suryo had questioned the motive or necessity behind the health examination conducted by investigators from the outset. Roy felt he had no health issues requiring additional checks at the Police Hospital. “Mr Roy himself said he did not feel the need to be examined, but because that is the procedure, the examination was still carried out,” Refly stated. Meanwhile, Refly also disclosed that Dr Tifa’s condition was very good. Just hours before being detained, around 8:00 AM WIB, Dr Tifa was preparing to attend an important academic event, namely her dissertation results seminar. “Dr Tifa was still getting ready at eight in the morning before being arrested for her dissertation seminar. She was heading to the location of her activity when she was stopped by officers and arrested,” Refly said. The suspects in the alleged defamation and slander case concerning the authenticity of the diploma of Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Roy Suryo and Dr Tifauzia Tyassuma, underwent a health examination at the Police Hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta. Both arrived at the hospital around 5:55 PM WIB and were immediately taken to the Emergency Department. They arrived under tight escort from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. Roy Suryo arrived wearing grey-black shorts and a blue-white short-sleeved shirt. He stepped out of the detention vehicle raising and clenching his fist while saying “ready”. Shortly after, Dr Tifa stepped out of the detention vehicle wearing an orange detainee vest. Earlier, information circulated from the Advocacy Team Against the Criminalisation of Academics and Activists (TA-AKAA) stating that on Friday, 19 June 2026, at approximately 7:00 AM WIB, Roy Suryo Notodiprojo was reportedly arrested by investigators from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.
