Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa Arrested in Jokowi Diploma Case
Roy Suryo and Tifauziah Tyassuma, known as Dr Tifa, have been arrested by police in the case concerning allegations of a fake diploma belonging to former President Joko Widodo. The arrests took place on Friday morning (19 June).
One of Roy Suryo’s lawyers, Petrus Selestinus, confirmed the arrest to CNNIndonesia.com. “Today, Friday 19 June 2026, at around 07:00, our client Roy Suryo Notodiprojo was reported by his wife to have been arrested by Polda Metro Jaya investigators. At the same time, we also received information that Tifauzia Tyassuma was also arrested,” Petrus said. Dr Tifa was arrested by police at her apartment on Friday morning at approximately 06:47 WIB.
Petrus expressed regret over the Polda Metro Jaya investigators’ decision to use coercive measures through arrest against his client. “Even though our client has been cooperative in fulfilling investigators’ summons and has even always carried out mandatory reporting,” he stated. “Secondly, if the action in question is for the purpose of phase two or as reported that the file is complete, then such action could be carried out by issuing a summons letter. Not by coercive (repressive) measures through the arrest process,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dr Tifa’s legal team member Azis Yanuar said his client was picked up by police at her apartment at around 06:47 WIB. “Yes, that’s right, arrested,” Azis told CNNIndonesia.com.
Both Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa have been named suspects in the case of the alleged fake diploma of Jokowi since November 2025. After a lengthy process, Polda Metro Jaya announced on 2 June 2026 that the case files for Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa concerning the fake diploma allegations against the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, had been declared complete, or P21, by the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office.
“Alhamdulillah, as of today the prosecutor has stated that the case file we sent to the DKI High Prosecutor’s Office no longer requires fulfilment of the deficiencies that we previously completed,” said Polda Metro Jaya Director of General Criminal Investigation, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, at Polda Metro Jaya on Tuesday (2/6). Iman stated that his party would soon carry out the phase two handover to the prosecutor’s office, though he could not yet confirm when this would occur.
Responding to this, Jokowi’s legal counsel, Yakup Hasibuan, expressed confidence that the case against Roy Suryo was merely awaiting phase two before an arrest would follow. Phase two is the process of handing over suspects and evidence from the police to the prosecutor’s office after the case file is declared complete (P-21). Yakup said his party would not be surprised if Roy Suryo were soon summoned by investigators to undergo phase two. He also mentioned the possibility of detention, but stated that this was entirely the authority of the investigators.
