Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa Hospitalised After Medical Examination in Jokowi Diploma Case

Defamation suspects Roy Suryo and Tifauzia Tyassuma, alias Doctor Tifa, have been formally admitted for inpatient care at the National Police Hospital (RS Polri) in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, since Friday evening (19/6). The decision was made by the medical team after both underwent post-arrest health examinations by Polda Metro Jaya investigators. Their legal counsel, Refly Harun, stressed that the medical action was a doctor’s recommendation, not a request from the suspects themselves. “Both Doctor Tifa and Mr Roy Suryo, upon the doctor’s recommendation, not at their own request, have been hospitalised,” Refly Harun stated in Jakarta. Refly explained that generally, the condition of Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa is good. However, the medical examination results revealed pre-existing illnesses requiring monitoring and further intensive medical treatment. “These two individuals are actually in good condition. But they have pre-existing illnesses discovered during the examination process,” Refly continued. He added that the medical team assessed their health conditions did not yet allow them to immediately resume activities or legal proceedings without medical supervision. Regarding specific diagnoses, Refly declined to provide details for patient privacy. However, he indicated that the illness suffered by Roy Suryo is quite common in society, noting that around 30 per cent of Indonesians have a similar condition. Based on observations, Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa arrived at the RS Polri Kramat Jati around 5.55 p.m. Western Indonesian Time under tight escort from Polda Metro Jaya personnel. Both were immediately directed to the Emergency Department for observation. Roy Suryo appeared wearing a blue-and-white shirt and dark grey shorts. Upon exiting the detention vehicle, he briefly raised his fist towards the media crew while saying, “Ready.” Meanwhile, Doctor Tifa was seen wearing an orange detainee vest as she entered the hospital building. Polda Metro Jaya confirmed that the forced security measures for Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa are legal procedures for the Phase II transfer to the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office. The legal process for the case faced by Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa is currently still in the material evidence stage. Joko Widodo has also expressed his readiness to attend the trial if necessary, consistent with statements he made some time ago.
