Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa Discharged from Police Hospital, Immediately Transferred to Metro Jaya Police

Suspects in the alleged defamation and slander case regarding the authenticity of 7th President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) diploma, Roy Suryo and Tifauzia Tyassuma (Doctor Tifa), were officially discharged from the Kramat Jati Police Hospital in East Jakarta on Monday morning (22/6). Both were immediately taken to the Metro Jaya Regional Police for further legal proceedings. Based on observations at the scene, Roy and Tifa exited the inpatient building at around 06:40 WIB. Roy Suryo appeared to be wearing a brown-toned long-sleeved batik shirt, while Doctor Tifa was dressed in black with an orange detainee vest. Both were directed into a Metro Jaya Police detention vehicle under officer escort. “Allahuakbar, Allahuakbar,” Roy shouted, raising his fist as he stepped out of the hospital’s inpatient room. After leaving the hospital, the pair were scheduled to undergo the phase II handover process. This step is part of the case handling which has been ongoing for approximately one year. Phase II handover is the process of transferring suspects along with evidence from police investigators to the prosecution after the case file has been declared complete (P21). In this case, Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa will be handed over to the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office to enter the prosecution stage in court. Previously, Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa underwent a medical examination at the Police Hospital on Friday afternoon (19/6). Although generally declared to be in good condition, the medical team found underlying health conditions requiring intensive medical attention, so both were recommended for inpatient care to ensure their health remained stable before the legal process continued. Regarding the arrest chronology, the Advocacy Team Against the Criminalisation of Academics and Activists (TA-AKAA) stated that Roy Suryo was arrested by Metro Jaya Police investigators on Friday (19/6) at around 07:00 WIB. At almost the same time, the Doctor Tifa Defence Team (TPDT) confirmed that Doctor Tifa was also picked up by police at her apartment at 06:47 WIB. The case originated from allegations concerning a fake Jokowi diploma, which was subsequently reported for suspected dissemination of false news and defamation.
