Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa Arrive at Polda Metro Ahead of Case Transfer

Suspects in the case of allegedly spreading false claims about the academic diploma of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Roy Suryo and Tifauziah Tyassuma, also known as Doctor Tifa, arrived at Polda Metro Jaya on Monday (21/6) ahead of the second stage of their case transfer to the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office. The pair were brought back to Polda Metro Jaya after receiving medical treatment at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital following their arrest on Friday (19/6). Roy and Tifa arrived at Polda Metro Jaya at around 07:52 Western Indonesian Time in a prison transport vehicle and were immediately escorted into the Polda Metro Jaya detention centre.

Their legal representative, Ahmad Khozinudin, stated that the two were brought to Polda Metro Jaya to continue the second stage of the transfer process to the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office. ‘We escorted our clients from the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, and today we are at the detention and evidence unit. After the examination is complete, the administrative process at the detention and evidence unit will see the suspects, evidence, and case files handed over to the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office,’ he said.

Polda Metro Jaya arrested Roy Suryo and Tifa on Friday (19/6) last week. The Director of General Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, explained that the arrests were part of the process of handing over the suspects and evidence from investigators to the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office. This step was taken after the case file was declared complete, or P-21, by the prosecution. ‘Furthermore, to ensure the presence and whereabouts of the suspects during the handover process proceed smoothly, investigators must confirm the suspects’ presence and location,’ he stated.
