Jakarta, Kompas.com - Police have once again handed over the case files regarding the allegations of a fake diploma belonging to the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office.

The Director of General Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, stated that the submitted files include five suspects: Roy Suryo, Tifauzia Tyassuma, Kurnia Tri Royani, Rizal Fadillah, and Rustam Effendi.

This is because the other three suspects, Eggi Sudjana, Damai Lubis, and Rismon Sianipar, chose the path of amicable settlement for resolving this case.

“The investigation process against the other suspects continues as per the court trial stages. Subsequently, we are sending the case files back to the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office for processing in the trial,” Iman explained during a press conference at the Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters on Friday (17/4/2026).

Iman emphasised that the examination of witnesses is what made the investigation take quite a long time.

In addition, the suspects had requested independent forensic examination of Jokowi’s diploma at three institutions.

However, those three institutions did not accommodate the request for forensic examination of the document, citing a lack of adequate equipment and capabilities.

“We must maintain professionalism, and we must accommodate every legal event that occurs during the investigation process,” he said.

Metro Jaya Regional Police designated eight individuals as suspects in the case of allegations of Jokowi’s fake diploma following a lengthy investigation.

“Metro Jaya Regional Police has designated 8 people as suspects in the case of defamation, slander, hate speech, and electronic data manipulation reported by Mr. Ir. H. Joko Widodo,” said the Head of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, during a press conference at the Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters on Friday (7/11/2025).

These suspects were then divided into two clusters according to their actions.

The first cluster is also charged under Article 160 of the Criminal Code for incitement to commit violence against public authorities.

Eggi Sudjana, Kurnia Tri Royani, Rizal Fadillah, Rustam Effendi, and Damai Hari Lubis were placed in this cluster.
