Rosan Says Lippo Land Grant Will Impact 600,000 People
The government is collaborating with private developer PT Lippo Cikarang Tbk. (LPCK) to support the 3 million homes programme for low-income communities (MBR). Under this initiative, Lippo Group is granting 30 hectares of land to the state for the priority programme.
Chief Executive Officer of the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara), Rosan Roeslani, said that 141,000 vertical housing units will eventually be built. "In my view, this is not merely about providing land, but rather giving something substantial from the land because the impact will be immensely significant for low-income Indonesians," he stated at the Wisma Danantara building in Jakarta on Monday (29/6/2026).
Rosan, who also serves as Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry, said the programme could have a broad impact on society by providing decent housing for families. "141,000 units. That is extraordinary. If we multiply that by children, by wives, at least three or four times, that could be 500,000 or 600,000 people. So this impact will be very, very significant," he noted.
Danantara will coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies to ensure the project is completed on time according to plan. "Thus, this development will provide extraordinary benefits not only to us in this room, not only to the Indonesian people, but especially to low-income Indonesians," he said.
On the same occasion, Lippo Group founder Mochtar Riyadi expressed appreciation for the programme. He said it was also his wish to provide something beneficial to the country. "A few months ago, James told me that our Indonesian nation is short of housing. And James had a desire to contribute something to the country to increase housing development. I strongly agreed, and today the land handover has taken place," he revealed.
He added that he hopes this step will be followed by other conglomerates to provide benefits to the nation. "Hopefully, such thinking does not only occur within Lippo Group, but can be followed and spread to all conglomerates. In Indonesia, I think there are no fewer than 100 major entrepreneurs. If every major entrepreneur could contribute to the government, it would be an extraordinary benefit for our nation. This is my hope," he concluded.
