Rosan Says Kadin Bill Could Be Passed This Year
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Investment and Downstreaming Minister and Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) chief Rosan Perkasa Roeslani said a revision to Law No. 1 of 1987 on the Chamber of Commerce and Industry could be passed this year.
Rosan said the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM had initiated the revision. He said discussions had already been held, and that at least 380 items on the inventory of issues needed to be discussed with other ministries.
“I will therefore present the Kadin Bill to the House of Representatives so it can be approved by the government. God willing, that can happen this year,” Rosan said at the opening of the 2026 Kadin National Leadership Meeting in Jakarta on Thursday (29 October 2026).
Rosan said Kadin Indonesia chairman Anindya N. Bakrie had asked him to initiate the bill, and that President Prabowo Subianto had approved the proposal. He did not elaborate on what the revision would cover, despite the law being nearly 40 years old.
In September 2026, the House of Representatives agreed that the bill amending Law No. 1 of 1987 on the Chamber of Commerce and Industry would become a House-initiated bill. The decision was made at a plenary session.
Deputy Speaker Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal first asked parliamentary factions to submit their views in writing on the bill, which had been proposed by Commission VI of the House. He then asked members present to approve it as a House initiative. The members agreed.
“We ask this honourable House: can the bill proposed by Commission VI on the Chamber of Commerce and Industry be approved as a bill initiated by the House of Representatives?” Cucun asked.
“Agreed,” the members replied.
