Rosan Roeslani Signs Investment MoU with Saudi Arabia, Targeting Downstreaming and Renewable Energy
Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) and CEO of Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation and Promotion of Direct Investment with the Minister of Investment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Fahad bin Abduljalil Al-Saif, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday (4/8/2026). The agreement serves as a new foundation for strengthening the economic partnership between the two countries through the promotion and facilitation of investment in various strategic sectors.
Minister Rosan emphasised that the signing of the memorandum of understanding aims to expand the historic relationship between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia towards a more productive economic partnership. "Today is not just about signing a memorandum of understanding. Today is about transforming a long-standing friendship into stronger economic cooperation," Rosan said in an official statement on Tuesday (4/8/2026).
Based on data from the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, the realisation of Foreign Direct Investment from Saudi Arabia in Indonesia during the period from 2021 to the first half of 2026 was recorded at 126.2 million US dollars. Rosan noted an alignment in development direction between Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 agenda and Indonesia’s ongoing acceleration of industrialisation, downstream processing, infrastructure development, and economic transformation. This shared focus is seen as opening up enormous opportunities for collaboration amidst the changing global economic landscape.
Through the MoU, both countries agreed to strengthen institutional coordination and facilitate investment through several technical measures. These measures include the exchange of statistical information, business opportunities, regulations, and investment climate data; regular consultations with the private sectors of both countries; the organisation of joint investment promotion activities; and the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and expert visits. The government is targeting strengthened collaboration in a number of priority sectors, such as downstream processing, manufacturing, infrastructure, new and renewable energy, logistics, property, and digital technology.
"We want to see more Saudi Arabian companies investing in Indonesia and more Indonesian companies exploring business opportunities in Saudi Arabia," said Rosan. He also affirmed the government’s commitment to continuing policy reforms to ensure certainty and create a conducive investment climate for global investors.
