Rosan Reveals Plans for Indian Automotive Giant to Expand in Indonesia
The Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board, Rosan Perkasso Roeslani, has revealed plans for Indian motorcycle manufacturer TVS to increase its investment in Indonesia. According to Rosan, TVS also intends to expand its factory capacity within the country to produce motorcycles based on ethanol fuel.
Speaking at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (17/09/2026), he explained that TVS has already invested in Indonesia to produce motorcycles, scooters, and three-wheeled vehicles.
“(They) want to expand their factory further, but not only for EV-based fuels, they will also implement ethanol-based fuels,” said Rosan at the State Palace on Thursday.
According to Rosan, these discussions have also been held with President Prabowo Subianto. On this day, Prabowo also received representatives from TVS principals at the State Palace for a courtesy visit.
“So, the plans and potential cooperation were discussed earlier. The principals and the CEO happened to be visiting, so this was primarily a courtesy visit to the President,” Rosan said following the meeting.
Rosan has not yet disclosed the specific details regarding the value of the investment to be provided by TVS. However, it has been confirmed that the investment is intended for the development of ethanol-based electric motorcycles.
“It is in the field of developing electric motorcycles based on ethanol. This will involve the team from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Brian Yuliarto) for the development of ethanol-based electricity,” he added.
