Jakarta, VIVA – Investment and Downstream Industries Minister/BKPM Head Rosan Roeslani revealed that Chinese company Huayou Group plans to invest US$20 billion in Indonesia.

Rosan stated that Huayou has so far realised investments worth US$8.8 billion in Indonesia.

"They have conveyed the potential for investment from the Huayou group going forward, which according to their calculations could reach an additional US$20 billion," Rosan said at a press conference on Tuesday, 29 April 2025.

Rosan explained that Huayou will present its additional investment plans in greater detail during the third week of May 2025. The investment will encompass two main projects: continuing its collaboration with LG on an existing project and developing a new project entirely on Huayou's own initiative.

Rosan noted that one key focus of the new investment is the construction of an industrial park in the Pomala area of Southeast Sulawesi. This is in line with the industrial estate development model that has been successfully implemented in Morowali and WDAB.

"They now want to develop their own industrial park land, similar to those in Morowali and WDAB. We want to expand to other locations as well. This plan is for a site in Pomala," he explained.

Rosan assessed that these projects have the potential to attract investment from other countries, given the large scale and appeal of the industrial estates to be built.
