CEO of the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, has reported to President Prabowo Subianto regarding his working visit to Saudi Arabia. One of the matters discussed was a planned airport cooperation in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.
Rosan outlined several points from his report. The first concerned progress on the development of an Indonesian hajj settlement area in Mecca covering 4.4 hectares.
“Because we are also already processing the selection of the architect and what the illustrations will look like. The President asked for an update,” said Rosan, speaking at the Presidential Palace complex on Thursday (6/8/2026).
Rosan also recounted the results of his meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Investment Minister, Fahad bin Abduljalil Al-Saif. According to him, there is a cooperation plan in the field of airport management in Madinah.
“There, the investment minister happens to be a new friend of mine. We met and also met with the King’s adviser and discussed several cooperation opportunities in the airport sector in Madinah. One of them is that we were offered for Danantara to have an ownership stake in Madinah Airport,” he said.
Rosan admitted that he received the offer directly from the Saudi royal government, to carry out joint management with Mada Group or Mada International Holdings.
“It was offered directly to me. We are currently exploring it, and our team will soon meet with the team from Mada Group, which owns the airport in Madinah. That is one point,” he said.
In addition, the former Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) also reported on the plan to reduce the number of state-owned enterprises (SOEs). According to his report, 274 state-owned companies have already been consolidated.
“Because the streamlining that we have carried out now totals approximately 274 companies as of the end of July. He also asked for an update on that,” said Rosan.
