Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan Roeslani, has projected that investment realisation in the first quarter of 2026 will reach around Rp497 trillion. This figure is estimated to grow by about 7% year-on-year. “Insha’Allah, the target set by the government for the first three months can be achieved, namely Rp497 trillion, meaning a growth of about 7% annually,” Rosan stated during a meeting with Commission XII of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Monday (13/4). For the whole of 2026, the government targets investment realisation of Rp2,041.3 trillion, as outlined in the government’s work plan. Meanwhile, the medium-term target in the development period reaches Rp13,032.8 trillion. From the perspective of job absorption, the investment realisation at the beginning of the year is estimated to absorb around 627,000 workers, or an increase of about 5.5% compared to the same period last year. “So the figure is Rp2,041.3 trillion, but ultimately the target is Rp13,032.8 trillion. And job absorption is also estimated to reach 627,000 people or up by about 5.5%,” he explained. According to Rosan, this aligns with the targets in the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2025–2029, where the government targets investment growth of around 8%. For 2026, the investment realisation target is set at Rp2,041.3 trillion, as stipulated in Presidential Regulation Number 117 of 2025 on the Government Work Plan (RKP) 2026, which has been prepared by the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas. Rosan added that downstreaming remains one of the main contributors to investment in Indonesia, with a portion of around 30% of total incoming investment. The sources of investment are still dominated by several major partner countries such as Singapore, China, Japan, South Korea, and the United States. “And indeed, looking at the countries, they are still dominated by Singapore, then China, then Japan, South Korea, the United States, and others,” he added. Amid increasing global geopolitical and geo-economic challenges, Rosan assesses that Indonesia still has great opportunities to attract investment. This is supported by Indonesia’s open and non-aligned foreign policy, making it acceptable to various countries. “Our presence can be seen from the President’s visits to various countries, both to the United States, Western countries, as well as to China, Russia, and others, which are openly accepted,” Rosan concluded.
