Rosan: President Wants Investments to Create Quality Jobs
Jakarta: Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani reported the first-quarter 2026 investment realisation to President Prabowo Subianto. During the meeting, the President placed special emphasis on the quality of job creation from investments.
Rosan conveyed that the President’s directives stress that investments should not merely pursue realisation figures but must directly impact workforce absorption.
“The message from the President is that the investments entering must also grow well, correctly, and with quality in terms of job creation,” said Rosan at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.
According to him, the government is urged to accelerate all processes related to investments, including cutting regulations deemed obstructive. The President also highlighted the importance of simplifying technical permits so they do not hinder capital inflows.
“Our regulations must not become obstacles. Those technical approvals that hinder should not be necessary,” he continued.
Furthermore, Prabowo requested that Indonesia’s investment climate be continuously improved to be more competitive than other countries, particularly in Southeast Asia. The government will conduct benchmarking with ASEAN countries’ standards up to best practices from OECD member nations.
Rosan reported that the first-quarter investment realisation reached Rp498.79 trillion, or 100.36 per cent of the Rp497 trillion target. This figure increased by 7.22 per cent from the previous year.
This achievement was also accompanied by an increase in workforce absorption reaching 706,569 people, or growing 18.93 per cent compared to the same period last year.
