Rosan Introduces Danantara Trust Fund to Bill Gates at Merdeka Palace Meeting
JAKARTA — Minister of Downstream Industries and Investment/Head of BKPM and CEO of Danantara Indonesia, Rosan P Roeslani, introduced the Danantara Trust Fund to Gates Foundation founder Bill Gates during a meeting at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (7/5/2025).
According to Rosan, on Tuesday (6/5/2025), the Danantara team had already met with the Gates Foundation team.
"Actually, yesterday morning we had discussions with your team. Because at Danantara we are also establishing the Danantara Trust Fund," said Rosan during the meeting, which was broadcast online on Wednesday.
"And for internal discussion, we are actually committed to allocating 1 to 2.5 per cent of our dividend payout ratio," he revealed.
Rosan explained that each year the Danantara Trust Fund would provide at least US$100 million in funding. Over the next five to six years, Danantara would contribute at least US$1 billion to the Danantara Trust Fund.
"So that is a potential collaboration with the Gates Foundation as well. Because we are also looking for partners in the same fields — such as education, health and poverty alleviation," said Rosan.
"So once again, that is a potential collaboration. And we also hope to receive your input," he added.
Earlier, Bill Gates had arrived at Merdeka Palace at approximately 08.00 Western Indonesian Time and was immediately welcomed by President Prabowo. A number of ministers from the Merah Putih Cabinet were also present to greet the Microsoft founder.
