Indonesia is inviting Chinese companies not only to invest in the country, but also to build together with Indonesia by creating stronger supply chains, developing talent, advancing technology, and serving regional and global markets from within Indonesia, according to Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry of the Republic of Indonesia and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan Roeslani, in a recent interview with Xinhua.

“The opportunities are enormous, the direction is clear, and our commitment to a long-term partnership remains strong,” said Rosan. “China is a key partner, and we continue to diversify our partnerships to remain resilient.”

Rosan said China is one of Indonesia’s main strategic partners in accelerating industrialisation and realising the country’s economic growth aspirations, adding that China has been Indonesia’s largest trading partner for 13 consecutive years and has consistently ranked among the top three sources of foreign direct investment (FDI) for Indonesia.

According to Rosan, bilateral relations between the two countries have evolved from mere raw commodity trade into genuine industrial integration, encompassing mineral downstream processing, electric vehicle (EV) battery supply chains, digital infrastructure, and renewable energy.
