Rosan Establishes EU Desk to Facilitate European Union Investment in Indonesia
Jakarta, VIVA – Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM, Rosan Roeslani, announced that his ministry and the European Union Delegation have officially established a European Union (EU) Desk for Indonesia. The move is aimed at facilitating the flow of foreign direct investment (FDI) from EU member states into Indonesia.
He explained that the initiative is intended to strengthen bilateral collaboration between Indonesia and the EU on investment, in line with President Prabowo's directive to simplify regulations and reduce bureaucratic barriers.
"We are confident that the EU Desk will open up more channels of communication and potential strategic cooperation that can be mutually beneficial," said Rosan in a statement on Monday, 16 June 2025.
The EU Desk service unit will be based at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, focusing on assisting EU investors in deploying their capital in Indonesia. Services provided by the EU Desk will include market intelligence, business licensing guidance, business cooperation facilitation, identification of potential investment projects, and regulatory policy harmonisation.
Cooperation will focus on priority sectors aligned with both Indonesian and EU policies.
"We are increasingly open to broader cooperation. I believe that with this EU Desk, more partnerships will be created in the future," said Rosan.
He also confirmed that the initiative would support the accelerated conclusion of the IEU-CEPA agreement, which is targeted for completion before the end of the year.
"The EU Desk is a concrete step towards building an inclusive and productive economic partnership," he said.
According to data from the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, total EU investment in Indonesia from 2019 to the first quarter of 2025 reached US$13 billion. The largest investments were recorded in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry sector at US$2.1 billion, followed by the electricity, gas and water sector at US$1.9 billion.
