JAKARTA - The Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM, who also serves as CEO of Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) following the train accident incident in the East Bekasi area that killed 14 people.

Rosan expressed his concern over the incident and stressed the importance of enhancing safety aspects and the railway system. His side will also evaluate the consequences of the incident.

“We will conduct a comprehensive re-evaluation, first on safety, then on the existing railway system. And this will make us always evaluate comprehensively, like that,” said Rosan in Jakarta on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

He emphasised that safety is the top priority in transportation management, alongside improving service comfort.

“Because safety is indeed the most important thing for us, besides increasing comfort, but safety is number one,” he explained.

Previously, the Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Holding Agency, Dony Oskaria, affirmed that in addition to evaluating the security side, it will also target the management side by examining the causes and impacts of the incident as material for future improvements.

“(From the management side) including everything will be evaluated by us, and there are parties developing to conduct the evaluation, but on our side, we will first evaluate how the causes, effects, whether there are difficulties or not, that will be used for evaluation,” he continued.

He also affirmed that his side will follow up on President Prabowo Subianto’s directives regarding improvements to railway crossings. Dony stated that the repair of 1,800 railway crossings has been included in the agreed work programme.

“Approximately 1,800 railway crossings that we have so far are mandatory to be repaired,” he stressed.
