Rosan Appointed MES Chairman as KH Maruf Amin and Erick Thohir Join Board
The Central Board of the Sharia Economic Society (MES) for the 1447-1452 Hijriyah period was sworn in on Sunday, 24 May 2026. Rosan Perkasa Roeslani has been appointed as chairman of the new board.
The new MES Central Board includes prominent national figures from government, religious scholars, academia, entrepreneurs, and professionals. This milestone marks a crucial step in consolidating the organisation to strengthen Indonesia’s Sharia economic ecosystem.
MES Chairman Rosan Roeslani emphasised the new board’s commitment to actionable implementation. He stressed that board members represent the grassroots communities awaiting economic solutions.
‘Thoughts, discussions, visions, and missions without implementation are mere illusions. Sharia economy must not just be large in numbers but small in real impact,’ Rosan said.
He stated MES must not merely chase statistical rankings. The organisation is expected to deliver tangible results, such as designing schemes to reduce the time for umrah pilgrims in remote areas to save up from 15 years to one or two years. As a foundation for future work, Rosan established a key principle for all board members to adhere to in every decision.
‘In every board meeting, I hope there is one thing consistently prioritised and confirmed together: whether the programme will truly be felt and provide significant benefits to all Indonesians,’ he concluded.
