Rorotan RDF: WIKA's Sustainable Waste Processing Solution

PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) has contributed to supporting waste management solutions in Jakarta through the construction of the Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) Plant Rorotan, located in North Jakarta. The facility, owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s Environmental Agency, was built as part of efforts to provide waste processing infrastructure that can support sustainable waste management in Jakarta. RDF Rorotan is designed to process approximately 2,200 to 2,400 tonnes of waste per day, making this DKI Jakarta Provincial Government-owned facility the RDF plant with the largest processing capacity in the world. Based on the latest operational conditions, one line is currently operating with a processing capacity of up to 800 tonnes of waste per day, while two other lines are in the preparation stage for operation. The operation of all lines will be adjusted according to the availability of waste supply that can be sent to the facility. In practice, the smooth transportation of waste to the site is one of the factors supporting the increase in the facility’s processing capacity. WIKA Corporate Secretary Ngatemin revealed WIKA’s role in the construction of the RDF Rorotan facility and expressed the hope that the infrastructure that has been built can be optimally utilised to support sustainable waste management in Jakarta. “WIKA has fulfilled its commitment to delivering the quality of the RDF Rorotan facility construction in accordance with the planned functions and needs. Now that construction is complete, the operation of the facility is the authority of the management. We hope the RDF Rorotan can be optimally utilised and make a real contribution as one of the waste management solutions in Jakarta,” Ngatemin said in a written statement on Wednesday (12/8/2026). Ngatemin further conveyed that the operation of RDF Rorotan is also continuously being developed to ensure it provides comfort for the surrounding community in its daily operations. “It is hoped that with the infrastructure that has been built, RDF Rorotan can provide benefits in line with its construction objectives. We also hope its operation can run more optimally so that it always provides comfort for the surrounding community,” he added. During a joint inspection with the Minister of Environment and the Minister of Manpower, conditions around RDF Rorotan also showed positive developments in terms of environmental comfort. Currently, conditions around the facility are monitored and no longer produce disturbing odours. RDF Rorotan processes waste into Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF), an alternative fuel that can be used to support industrial energy needs. The presence of this facility is expected to be part of Jakarta’s waste management solution while supporting efforts to reduce the amount of waste sent to the Bantargebang landfill. Through the construction of RDF Rorotan, WIKA has now delivered sustainable waste management infrastructure in DKI Jakarta province.
