Roof Tiling Initiative to Launch in Majalengka Next Month, 600 Trucks Deployed

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto’s roof tiling programme will be launched starting next month in Majalengka, West Java.

“Roof tiling next month we will start in Majalengka with 600 delivery trucks; there are already orders,” said Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait after a cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

In addition to Majalengka, other regions will follow with roof tiling.

“Later we will go to Plered Purwakarta, Central Java, and roof tiling centres,” she said.

“This involves SMEs. SMEs will get moving. Like in Jatiwangi Majalengka, the SMEs are getting active,” she added.

President Prabowo first mentioned roof tiling during the national coordination meeting of the government in Sentul, Bogor, on 2 February 2026.

“I see that in all your cities, almost all villages, sorry, many have roofs made of corrugated iron,” said Prabowo at the Central and Regional Government National Coordination Meeting in Sentul, Bogor.

He emphasised his desire for all houses in Indonesia to use tile roofs through a national movement.

“I want all roofs (of houses) in Indonesia to use tiles. The movement is the roof tiling project movement,” Prabowo continued.

He also stressed the importance of commitment from local governments in realising a more beautiful environment.

“This is serious; regents and mayors who don’t want their cities to be beautiful, that’s up to them. Together we make cities beautiful, beautiful sub-districts, and beautiful villages,” said Prabowo.
