One point on the roof in the boarding lounge at Gate 7 of Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport leaked due to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds that hit the airport area on Monday (6/4/2026). Corporate Secretary Group Head of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia or InJourney Airports, Arie Ahsanurrohim, stated that the incident caused discomfort to services at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. “On behalf of the management of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia/InJourney Airports, we extend our apologies to the public and airport users, aircraft passengers, and business partners for the inconvenience that arose, particularly regarding the disruption to the roof in the boarding lounge at Gate 7 of Terminal 3,” Arie said in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4/2026). Arie explained that the cause of the roof disruption was triggered by the high volume of rainwater exceeding the drainage pipe capacity. Based on information from BMKG, at 13:47–13:50 WIB, a critical warning in the form of a wind shear warning was issued for all runways with wind speeds up to 30 knots, as well as an aerodrome warning in the form of thunderstorm rain (TSRA) with wind speeds of 17–30 knots. “InJourney Airports also ensures that operations and services at Soekarno-Hatta Airport generally continue to run well and smoothly,” Arie added. InJourney Airports, continued Arie, ensures that the handling of this roof disruption has been carried out according to procedure while still paying attention to aspects of service, flight safety, and security. Arie stated that repairs are being carried out according to the procedure for handling disruptions to terminal infrastructure. He said the location has been sterilised to ensure safety and services remain maintained, particularly at Gate 7 of Terminal 3. Arie added that the roof repairs are targeted to be completed as quickly as possible by Wednesday (8/4/2026). “The completion of the work will be accelerated, and we ensure that the repair of the disrupted roof will be finished estimated on Wednesday (8/4/2026),” said Arie.
