PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) has issued an apology for the incident involving the collapse of the roof in the Boarding Lounge at Gate 7 of Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. “We extend our apologies to the public, airport users, aircraft passengers, and business partners for the inconvenience caused, particularly regarding the disruption to the roof in the Boarding Lounge at Gate 7 of Terminal 3,” stated Corporate Secretary Group Head of InJourney Airports, Arie Ahsanurrohim, in a written statement on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.

Previously, a video showing the roof of Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport leaking and collapsing went viral on social media. The short video, narrated as the roof of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Terminal 3 breaking due to heavy rain at Gate 7, depicted the moments when the terminal ceiling leaked and collapsed with quite heavy water flow.

Arie explained that the cause of the roof disruption was triggered by the high volume of rainwater exceeding the drainage pipe capacity, which occurred on Monday afternoon.

Furthermore, Arie mentioned that information about bad weather from 13:47 to 13:50 WIB had been conveyed by the BMKG. At that time, a critical warning in the form of a Wind Shear Warning was issued for all runways with wind speeds reaching up to 30 knots, as well as an Aerodrome Warning in the form of thunderstorm rain (TSRA) with wind speeds of 17–30 knots.

InJourney Airports also assured that the handling of the roof disruption condition has been carried out according to procedures while still paying attention to aspects of service, flight safety, and security.

“Repairs are carried out according to the procedure for handling disruptions to terminal infrastructure. The location has been sterilised to ensure safety, and services remain maintained, especially at Boarding Gate 7 of Terminal 3,” said Arie.

He stated that the roof repair is targeted to be completed as quickly as possible on Wednesday, 8 April 2026. “The completion of the work will be expedited, and we assure that the repair of the disrupted roof will be finished estimated on 8 April 2026.” InJourney Airports also assured that operations and services at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in general continue to run well and smoothly despite the incident.

Assistant Deputy for Communication & Legal at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Branch Office, Yudistiawan, previously confirmed the incident in the video. “It is true,” he said when contacted by Tempo on Monday evening, 6 April 2026.

Yudis explained that the roof disruption in the Boarding Lounge area at Gate 7 of Terminal 3 occurred during heavy rain with high intensity on Monday afternoon, 6 April 2026. “The disruption condition at that one point of the roof lasted for approximately 5 minutes,” he stated.

According to Yudis, after the incident, airport operational staff immediately carried out handling, including cleaning and restricting the affected area, so that the condition could be controlled immediately. “Currently, the area is in a clean condition, and the situation has returned to conducive, with airport operations continuing to run smoothly,” he said.

He assured that the damaged roof section was immediately handled, localised, cleaned of water, and tidied up again. “Ceiling repairs were also carried out immediately,” said Yudis.
