Roof of Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta Airport Collapses Due to Heavy Rain, Flowing Like a Waterfall
TANGERANG – The roof of Terminal 3 Gate 7 at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) in Tangerang, Banten, collapsed due to heavy rain that lashed the area since Monday (6/4/2026) morning. Water cascaded from the roof like a waterfall. News of the airport roof collapse spread widely on social media. Based on circulating videos, water was seen leaking from the ceiling area before the roof gave way. The volume of water overwhelmed the structure, leading to the collapse. Assistant Deputy for Communication & Legal at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Yudistiawan, explained in his statement that the collapsed roof was located in the Boarding Lounge area of Gate 7, Terminal 3. “The disruption from that single point on the roof lasted approximately five minutes. Airport operational staff immediately took action, including cleaning and restricting access to the affected area, allowing the situation to be quickly controlled,” said Yudistiawan on Monday (6/4/2026). The area near the collapsed roof is now clean. He also assured that airport operations are running smoothly.
