Roof of Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta Airport Collapses
A video depicting the roof of Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta Airport leaking and collapsing has gone viral on social media. The short video, narrated as showing the ceiling of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Terminal 3 collapsing due to heavy rain at Gate 7, captures the moment the terminal’s ceiling leaks and collapses with considerable force, accompanied by heavy water flow.
Assistant Deputy for Communication & Legal at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Branch Office, Yudistiawan, confirmed the incident in the video. “It is true,” he stated when contacted by Tempo on Monday evening, 6 April 2026.
Yudis explained that the roof disruption in the Boarding Lounge area at Gate 7, Terminal 3, occurred during heavy rain with high intensity on Monday afternoon, 6 April 2026. “The disruption at that single point on the roof lasted approximately five minutes,” said Yudis.
According to Yudis, following the incident, airport operational staff immediately responded, including cleaning and restricting the affected area, allowing the situation to be quickly controlled. “The area is now clean, and the situation has returned to normal, with airport operations proceeding smoothly,” he said.
He assured that the damaged roof section was immediately addressed, localised, cleaned of water, and tidied up. “Repairs to the ceiling were also carried out immediately,” said Yudis.
Yudis added that airport personnel conduct 24-hour monitoring of all facilities, including building infrastructure, so that if any potential disruption is spotted, the surrounding area will be sterilised from passengers and airport workers to minimise impacts.
