Roof of council building collapses

INDONESIA: The roof of the Pekalongan municipal council building in Central Java suddenly collapsed around dawn on Saturday, but no fatalities were reported.

The incident has forced a council committee to shift an official function, slated to be held on Saturday night, to the nearby Wanita Building.

The function in question is the inauguration of Salahudin as the chairman of the Pekalongan municipal council for the 2004- 2009 term, according to Suharto, the speaker of the Pekalongan council.

The two story building was built in 1985. -- JP
