Romanian team in town for talks

JAKARTA: A high-powered delegation from the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs arrived here on Sunday to hold talks with Indonesia on bilateral matters and international issues of common interest.

Romanian Ambassador to Indonesia George Savuica said over the weekend that the delegation was led by Petre Cordos, director general for bilateral affairs.

"The consultations are expected to come up with new ways and means to further consolidate political dialog and enlarge trade and economic cooperation between the two countries," said Savuica, adding the talks were a follow-up to President Megawati Soekarnoputri's visit to Romania in April.

The Indonesian delegation was led by Triyono Maryono, in his capacity as director general A.I. for American and European affairs.

The Romanian delegation would also have discussions with leading members of the private think-thank, the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). --JP
