Rolls-Royce wins contract
JAKARTA (JP): A consortium made up of Britain's Rolls-Royce and two other partners has won a US$40 million contract to install a power substation and transmission lines in Java, the company said yesterday.
The company said in a statement that under the contract with the state electricity company PLN, the consortium would build a 500/150kV substation in Pedan, West Java and a 75 kilometer 500kV transmission line plus a six-kilometer 150kV transmission line linking the city of Ungaran in Central Java with Pedan.
The other members of the consortium are Dwipanggi Sakti Prima of Indonesia and KEC, which is partly owned by the RPG Group of India.
The transmission lines will transmit high-voltage power from large power plants in Central Java to consumers in Central and West Java when completed next year.
The Pedan substation will become the second Rolls-Royce has constructed for PLN. The first is in Samarinda, East Kalimantan. (jsk)
