A number of areas in Greater Bandung experienced power outages from morning to afternoon on Wednesday (17/6/2026), disrupting business operations. One affected business on Jalan Naripan in Bandung City was unable to serve customers properly due to the blackout. Outages were also reported in Bandung Regency and surrounding areas.

PLN West Java Distribution Unit Communications Manager Nurmalitasari said the company is currently deploying all resources to maintain the reliability of the electricity system following operational technical issues at power plants that caused a reduction in supply capacity.

“To maintain the stability and reliability of the electricity system, PLN is implementing limited load management in several affected areas and continues to strive to accelerate the restoration of plant operating conditions so that electricity supply can return to normal,” she said in an official statement on Wednesday.

She added that PLN apologises for the inconvenience caused and that updates on the handling and recovery process will be communicated through the company’s official channels.

Meanwhile, PLN’s East Java Distribution Unit stated that operational technical issues at power plants caused blackouts in several areas of Surabaya, Sidoarjo, and Gresik. Communications and Social and Environmental Responsibility Manager Dana Puspita Sari confirmed that all resources have been deployed to maintain system reliability.

“PLN is currently deploying resources to maintain the reliability of the electricity system following operational technical issues at power plants that caused a reduction in electricity supply capacity,” she said in Surabaya on Wednesday. To maintain stability, PLN is implementing limited load management in affected areas and working to accelerate plant recovery.

Dana said PLN will continue to coordinate with all relevant parties to ensure optimal handling and reliable supply. Based on monitoring, several areas in East Java, particularly Surabaya, Sidoarjo, and Gresik, have frequently experienced blackouts since last week at varying times. Some areas suffered sudden outages lasting two to five hours a day, and last week several main roads in Surabaya were without power for hours into the night, posing significant danger to motorists.
