Roll Call Ahead of Labour Day: 24,980 Combined Personnel on Alert at Monas and DPR

A roll call was held at the Monas intersection in Central Jakarta on Thursday (30 April 2026). The forces involved consisted of elements from the National Police (Polri), Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, and other security units.

In his address, Brigadier General Dekantono stressed the importance of readiness among all personnel in the field. He called for humane crowd management and ensuring that evacuation routes were ready for use.

Additionally, security efforts were focused on potential vulnerabilities, such as theft, pickpocketing, and infiltration by provocateurs. Personnel were instructed to enhance early detection and coordination between agencies.

“The safety of the public is the top priority, for event participants, surrounding communities, and all on-duty personnel,” he stated.

With this preparedness, it is hoped that the entire series of Labour Day 2026 commemorations in Jakarta can proceed safely, orderly, and smoothly.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said that tens of thousands of personnel had been prepared to ensure all May Day activities run safely and conducive.

“In total, we have prepared 24,980 personnel, consisting of 15,575 Polri personnel, 6,003 TNI personnel, 1,002 DKI Provincial Government personnel, 400 internal security personnel, and 2,000 Community Security Belt (Sabuk Kamtibmas) members,” Budi said.

Budi explained that security was focused on two main agendas: the May Day Fiesta at Monas and the delivery of workers’ aspirations in the DPR/MPR area and the DKI Jakarta Labour Office.

According to him, the apparatus would prioritise a humane approach in escorting workers’ activities. Coordination across agencies was also strengthened to anticipate potential security disruptions.

“In principle, the delivery of aspirations is protected by law. We, along with the TNI and DKI Provincial Government, will escort it so that aspirations can be conveyed safely, orderly, and conducive,” he revealed.

His side also urged the public to avoid several activity points if they had no urgent business. This was because traffic congestion was expected around Monas to the DPR.
