Roles of Two Suspects in Tailan-Aceh Meth Network: Drug Courier and Ground Controller

The Directorate of Narcotics Crimes (Dittipidnarkoba) of the Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) has apprehended two perpetrators involved in the distribution of 325 kilograms of methamphetamine from the Thailand-Indonesia international network. Both individuals held distinct roles, acting as ‘tekong’ (boat pilots) for drug pick-ups and land-based controllers.

A joint team from Subdit IV Dittipidnarklo Bareskrim Polri and the NIC Task Force, led by Kombes Pol Handik Zusen and Kombes Pol Kevin Leleury, successfully arrested suspects Jufri (29) and Zulfahmi (29). Jufri acted as the boat pilot recruited by MJ, who is currently on the most wanted list (DPO).

“Jufri met with MJ on Saturday, 20 June 2026, at approximately 15:30 WIB in a coffee shop in Kampung Kuala Meuraksa, where he was offered a job to pick up narcotics 120 miles out at the Indonesia-Thailand maritime border,” stated the Director of Narcotics Crimes of Bareskrim Polri, Brigjen Pol. Eko Hadi, in a statement on Sunday (28/6/2026).

Jufri and MJ then departed towards the Thailand-Indonesia maritime border. They met with a network from Thailand to conduct the narcotics handover on Tuesday (23/6/2026) at approximately 07:00 WIB.

“The handover process was conducted using a ship-to-ship method (transfer of cargo between vessels). The vessel was described as a large, brown iron ship without a flag, manned by four crew members who were tall, thin foreign nationals,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the suspect Zulfahmi acted as the land controller. He was instructed by MJ to gather at the Kuala Meuraksa fish ponds alongside Jufri and UA to facilitate the pick-up of the illegal goods.

“On Tuesday, 23 June 2026, at around 18:30 WIB, Zulfahmi and UA were instructed by their boss via the Zangi messaging application, using an account named ‘B’, to collect a black Honda HR-V with registration number BK-1975-ACH from the parking lot of Cut Mutia Hospital. They then proceeded to Kuala Meuraksa to collect the 325 packages of narcotics,” said Eko.

After loading the narcotics into the car, they were instructed to return to Cut Mutia Hospital and leave the car keys under a tyre as a signal that the task was completed.
