Roles of Two Suspects in Tailan-Aceh Meth Network: Drug Courier and Ground Controller

The Directorate of Narcotics Crime (Dittipidnarkoba) of the Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) has arrested two perpetrators involved in the distribution of 325 kilogrammes of methamphetamine from an international Tailan-Indonesia network. The two individuals played different roles, one as a tekong (boat skipper) or drug courier and the other as a ground controller. A joint team from Sub-Directorate IV of Dittipidnarkoba Bareskrim and the NIC Task Force Bareskrim, led by Senior Commissioner Handik Zusen and Senior Commissioner Kevin Leleury, successfully apprehended suspects Jufri (29) and Zulfahmi (29). Jufri acted as the tekong recruited by MJ, who has now been placed on the wanted list. Jufri met with MJ on Saturday, 20 June 2026, at around 3.30 p.m. Western Indonesia Time at a coffee shop in Kuala Meuraksa village, where he was offered a job to pick up narcotics 120 miles from the Indonesia-Tailan sea border. Jufri and MJ then departed for the Tailan-Indonesia sea border. They met with the Tailan network to hand over the narcotics on Tuesday, 23 June 2026, at around 7 a.m. The handover was conducted using a ship-to-ship method. The vessel was described as a large brown iron ship without a flag, crewed by four tall, thin foreign nationals. Meanwhile, suspect Zulfahmi served as the ground controller. He was ordered by MJ to gather at a fishpond in Kuala Meuraksa with Jufri and UA to facilitate the pickup of the illicit goods. On Tuesday, 23 June 2026, at around 6.30 p.m., Zulfahmi and UA were instructed by their boss via the Zangi messaging app under the account name ‘B’ to collect a black Honda HR-V with the registration number BK-1975-ACH from the parking lot of Cut Mutia Hospital. They then departed for Kuala Meuraksa to pick up the 325 packages of narcotics. After loading the drugs into the car, they were ordered to return to Cut Mutia Hospital and leave the car keys under the tyre as a signal that the job was complete.
