Roles of Two Suspects in Attempted Kidnapping of 70-Year-Old Man in PIK Revealed

Police have arrested two suspects in the attempted kidnapping of a 70-year-old man with the initials GH in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), North Jakarta. The two suspects had different roles.

“FAP was the executor,” said Penjaringan Metropolitan Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Sampson Sosa Hutapea to reporters on Tuesday (16/6/2026).

Meanwhile, the other suspect, identified as CW (31), acted as the driver. CW is also suspected of being the mastermind behind the kidnapping.

“CW was the driver,” Sampson stated.

Police previously revealed the motive behind the attempted kidnapping of GH (70). CW (31) allegedly held a grudge because his relationship with the victim’s child was not approved.

“It is suspected to be due to a romantic problem or a relationship that was not approved by the victim. The suspect CW, as the mastermind, wanted to bring and meet the victim directly for personal reasons related to CKH, the victim’s child, because of the family’s rejection of the relationship,” said Penjaringan Metropolitan Police Chief AKBP Agta Bhuwana Putra to reporters on Monday (15/6).

Agta stated that the victim rejected the relationship because the perpetrator CW already had a child and a wife. The perpetrator then invited his acquaintance from the gym, FAP (26), to kidnap the victim.
