Roles of 287 Foreign Nationals Suspected in Hayam Wuruk Online Gambling Den: From IT to Trainees
The Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police has revealed the roles of 287 foreign nationals named as suspects in an online gambling headquarters located in the Hayam Wuruk Plaza Tower, West Jakarta. The suspects include IT staff and individuals who were undergoing training.
Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim, Brigadier General Wira Satya Triputra, stated that initially 321 foreign nationals were detained in May 2026 from the gambling base in Hayam Wuruk. Following an investigation, Bareskrim named 287 individuals as suspects.
“The breakdown consists of 76 Chinese nationals, three Lao nationals, two Malaysian nationals, 15 Myanmar nationals, six Thai nationals, and 185 Vietnamese nationals,” Wira said during a press conference at the Bareskrim Building in South Jakarta on Friday.
He explained that the suspects held various roles in the gambling operation. Among them, 175 people worked as customer service agents and 10 as programmers or IT staff.
“There were 27 marketing admins and 22 finance admins. Nine people were found undergoing training but were already capable of operating the gambling sites, and 44 people were supporting the operational activities,” he said.
He stated that the online gambling syndicate in Hayam Wuruk managed websites, served players, marketed services, and handled financial transactions. The international network is suspected of managing more than 145 online gambling sites with detected deposits reaching Rp 13.9 trillion.
