Role of 3 Debt Collectors Who Stabbed Advocate in Tangerang; 2 Still Wanted
The Criminal Investigation Sub-directorate of Metro Jaya Police Regional Command has apprehended one debt collector (matel) who stabbed an advocate in Kelapa Dua, Tangerang. Two other perpetrators remain at large.
The suspect, identified as JBI, was arrested on Kalikangkung Toll Road in Semarang, Central Java, whilst attempting to flee. JBI served as the executor who stabbed the victim at the time of the incident.
“We have secured one debt collector who carried out the stabbing,” said Metro Jaya Police Public Relations Head Brigadier Budi Hermanto when contacted on Sunday (29 February 2026).
Meanwhile, two other individuals identified as SS and HK remain wanted. Budi stated that both participated in intimidating the victim during the attempted vehicle seizure, which ultimately resulted in the stabbing.
“The whereabouts of both wanted suspects are still being investigated. SS was tasked with holding a power of attorney and intimidated the victim by staring menacingly whilst attempting to seize the vehicle from the victim’s terrace and accompanied HK as the victim moved towards his car,” he stated.
“HK was tasked with tracking the address via GPS Maps and documentation, intimidating the victim by staring menacingly whilst attempting to seize the vehicle from the victim’s terrace and accompanying SS as the victim moved towards his car,” he added.
Chronology of the Stabbing
Brigadier Budi Hermanto stated that the incident occurred on Monday (23 February) at 16:40 Western Indonesian Time. The victim and his wife, who were heading out to pick up their child, found three unknown individuals in front of their house.
“The victim and the three unknown individuals engaged in a verbal altercation regarding an outstanding instalment on a white Toyota Fortuner belonging to the victim, with arrears of two months. The victim and witness ignored the three unknown individuals who claimed to be debt collectors,” Budi told journalists on Tuesday (24 February).
Upon reaching the residential complex gate, the victim informed security personnel about the individuals who had come to his house. The alleged perpetrators, who were leaving the residential area, encountered the victim at the gate. It was then that the altercation escalated into the stabbing.
“Since the alleged perpetrators’ vehicle was blocking the road at that moment, the victim approached the alleged perpetrators to request their identification. When the witness exited the vehicle, he saw the victim already covered in blood from a wound in his stomach that had been stabbed by one of the men wearing a blue checkered shirt,” Budi explained.
Shortly thereafter, the alleged perpetrators left the scene. Budi stated that the victim was stabbed three times by the perpetrators.
Brigadier Budi Hermanto stated that the case is being handled by Tangsel Police Criminal Investigation Unit. The police are currently conducting an investigation against the perpetrators.
“The perpetrators are currently being investigated by Tangsel Police,” he added.
