The Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with Bank Indonesia, continues to strengthen the capacity of the young Islamic generation to ensure they become future leaders who are characterised by integrity, adaptive to technological developments, and capable of acting as agents of change. This effort focuses on spreading Islamic values and Sharia economic literacy within the digital sphere.

This initiative was realised through the Training of Trainer (ToT) for Indonesian Rohis Youth Content Creators, held in Badung, Bali, from 23–25 June 2026. The collaborative programme between the Directorate of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) under the Directorate General of Islamic Education of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Department of Sharia Economy and Finance (DEKS) of Bank Indonesia was attended by members of Islamic Spiritual (Rohis) organisations from senior high schools and vocational schools across 34 provinces in Indonesia.

Participants received training in leadership, digital literacy, Sharia economy and finance, as well as skills for producing creative and educational social media content. The Director of Islamic Religious Education, M. Munir, emphasised that Rohis members hold a strategic position in shaping the character and mindset of the younger generation. Consequently, they must be encouraged to be active not only in school religious activities but also to be present in the digital space as distributors of moderate, inspiring, and contemporary Islamic values.

“Rohis members must serve as agents of change, agents of development, and agents of control. They must be able to act as positive agents of change, continuously developing their self-capacity, and be capable of providing oversight regarding the various types of information circulating on social media,” said Munir.

According to him, mastering the digital space is a vital necessity for today’s youth. Amidst the heavy flow of information and diverse narratives circulating on social media, Rohis students need to possess strong digital communication skills to present Islamic content that is enlightening, calming, and provides solutions for society.
