Rocky Gerung Joins the Palace, Reveals Special Message from Prabowo
Rocky Gerung has officially joined the Palace as part of the Red and White Cabinet. He was inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres).
For context, Rocky Gerung has been known to the public as a critic of government policies in previous eras. However, he was now inaugurated as a member of Wantimpres at the Presidential Palace on Friday (2/10/2026).
ollowing his inauguration, Rocky Gerung was interviewed by the media, where he was asked about a special message from President Prabowo Subianto.
According to Rocky Gerung, President Prabowo provided a specific mandate that the advisory council holds both an ethical and technical position. “What that ethical position entails is the ability to observe the implications of policies and provide considerations regarding the direction of those policies, ensuring they align with the President’s vision,” said Rocky Gerung.
“That is its normative function; of course, there is also a more political function,” he added.
He stated that the more political function involves monitoring political and cultural situations. “Therefore, everything discussed within the council will be based on the ethical responsibility of each individual member,” said Rocky Gerung.
He emphasised that this is not a collective responsibility but an ethical responsibility of each member. Consequently, he noted, the primary responsibility is the ability to maintain distance from concrete, day-to-day events.
“Thus, this council is not meant to serve daily concrete questions; it requires contemplation, evaluation, and even the ability to envision the future of the republic,” he asserted.
“It is similar to an oversight committee in a company, but because this concerns public affairs, expertise is required, sharp intuition must be relied upon, and most importantly, it must demonstrate, without hesitation, what is wrong in the public perception of power, and how power can process that perception into something positive for the nation,” he concluded.
