Robotic Surgery Technology Strengthens Bali as a Health Tourism Destination
The arrival of robot-assisted total knee replacement (TKR) technology in Bali represents a new step in strengthening the Island of the Gods’ position as an international health tourism destination.
Orthopaedic specialist and hip and knee consultant Dr Erwin Saspraditya, BMedSci, Sp.OT(K), stated in Denpasar on Monday that the robotic technology does not replace the doctor’s role but rather helps improve the precision of surgical planning and execution according to each patient’s individual condition.
“Our goal is to help patients return to an active life without being limited by knee pain. This technology helps us plan procedures with greater precision, but all clinical decisions remain fully in the hands of the doctor,” he said.
The high-tech medical service, available at Siloam Hospital Bali, also provides public access to modern medical treatment without the need to travel abroad.
Robotic Total Knee Replacement technology assists doctors in mapping the patient’s anatomy in real-time and supports more precise surgical actions, which is expected to improve clinical outcomes and accelerate patient recovery.
The presence of robotic-based medical services is considered an important asset for Bali in developing the medical tourism sector.
