Roblox Kids and Roblox Select Launched in Indonesia

Digital platform Roblox has launched two new account settings. The first is Roblox Kids and the second is Roblox Select.

These rules, which also apply in Indonesia, aim to protect users under 16 years old and provide more options for parents to safeguard their children in the digital realm.

“With the new announcement we are making through the introduction of Roblox Kids Account and Roblox Select, we are trying to provide more support to parents to help them feel more confident and have control that the experience they have for their children is the right experience,” said Roblox Vice President of Civility and Partnerships Tami Bhaumik, during a media briefing on Tuesday (14/4/2026).

All of these account settings will undergo an age verification technology process. Specifically for these account settings in Indonesia, Roblox applies Roblox Kids for users aged 5-12 years and Roblox Select will be applied for users aged 13-15 years.

The Roblox Kids account is specifically designed for users aged 5-12 years who have passed the age verification technology process. This account can only access games with “Minimal” or “Mild” content labels. Automatically, all communication modes including chat access cannot be accessed.

In addition, there will be a special design with unique colours throughout the application to distinguish Roblox Kids from regular access. Next, for Roblox Select, this account setting allows users to only access games with content labels that include the Moderate category.

For communication access, Roblox Select account users can only communicate with trusted friends who have been approved by parents. Like Roblox Kids, Roblox Select will have a unique colour as a differentiator from regular Roblox accounts.

This age-based Roblox account system will adjust to the user’s age as the child grows and develops. The Roblox Kids account will automatically change to Roblox Select when the child reaches 13 years old.

Meanwhile, Roblox Select will automatically become a standard Roblox account when the user turns 16 years old. If the user has not completed the age verification stage, the user will be limited to only playing games in the Minimal or Mild categories and cannot communicate at all through Roblox.

“We very much prioritise child safety, including working with Komdigi so that our rules can be aligned,” said Tami.

The age limit settings for Roblox Kids and Roblox Select in Indonesia are specifically designed differently from the global standard. For the global Roblox provisions, the Roblox Kids age setting is available for users aged 5-8 years. Meanwhile, Roblox Select is available for users aged 9-15 years.
