Roblox Joins Closure: 8 Platforms Comply with PP Tunas Age Restriction Rules
JAKARTA - The Roblox gaming platform has completed the initial implementation of Government Regulation (PP) Tunas, which regulates access restrictions for users under 16 years old.
Therefore, to date, eight platforms have stated their commitment to complying with the regulation, namely Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, Bigo Live, YouTube, TikTok, and Roblox.
“So, Roblox today completes the series of the first eight platforms that we announced at the beginning of March,” said Minister of Communications and Digital (Komdigi) Meutya Hafid during a press conference at the Komdigi Office, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (30/4/2026).
She assessed that government support has led these eight major platforms to finally state their commitment and begin implementing the access restriction policy.
Nevertheless, the government will not stop at these eight platforms.
Meutya emphasised that the regulation will apply to all digital platforms operating in Indonesia.
“But we are not stopping at these eight platforms. Because in the digital realm, if we focus on or intervene in one or two, they will shift to others. Therefore, in the name of fair regulation, this will apply to all,” she said.
The results of such assessments will then be verified by the government.
Platforms can classify themselves as low-risk or high-risk, but Komdigi will ensure the accuracy of those assessments.
Meutya explained that Indonesia’s regulatory approach uses a risk-based scheme (risk-based approach), differing from several other countries.
With this approach, not all platforms are prohibited for users under 16 years old.
The government still allows the possibility of platforms that are safe for users aged 13 and below.
For information, user access restrictions are part of the implementation of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning the Governance of Electronic System Operators in Child Protection (PP TUNAS).
