Robig Zaenudin, Defendant in Gamma Murder Case, Exposed for Controlling Drug Trafficking from Prison
Semarang – Convicted in the shooting of student Gamma Rizkynata Oktafandy from SMKN 4 Semarang, Robig Zaenudin has been transferred from Class I Semarang Prison to Nusakambangan Prison. The transfer was carried out because Robig is suspected of controlling drug trafficking from inside the prison.
Head of Class I Semarang Prison Ahmad Tohari confirmed that Robig’s transfer to Nusakambangan Prison was prompted by a drug control case. “Class I Semarang Prison received several complaints from the public regarding allegations of drug control outside the prison by one of the inmates named Robig Zaenudin,” Tohari stated in his remarks obtained by Republika on Thursday (23/4/2026).
He added that a few days later, the Central Java Police’s Narcotics Directorate conducted an examination of Robig. “Therefore, as a precautionary measure against this issue, Class I Semarang Prison took swift action to transfer the inmate to Class IIa Gladakan Nusakambangan Prison to prevent potential security and order disruptions,” Tohari said.
Tohari revealed that 40 inmates, including Robig, were transferred from Class I Semarang Prison to Nusakambangan Prison. The transfer was carried out on 4 February 2026. Twenty inmates were sent to Class IIa Gladakan Nusakambangan Prison, while the rest went to Class IIb Nirbaya Nusakambangan Prison.
The transfer of the inmates was based on a letter from the Head of the Central Java Region Office of the Directorate General of Corrections, Number: WP.13-PK.03.02-29, dated 30 January 2026. According to Tohari, the transfer of these 40 inmates was aimed at improving the effectiveness of guidance, social reintegration, and early detection of security and order disruptions.
“In accordance with Article 45 paragraph 1 of Law Number 22 of 2022 on Corrections, the transfer of prisoners is carried out considering several factors, namely guidance needs, preventing potential security and order disruptions, and addressing overcapacity,” Tohari said.
He explained that transfers can involve social guidance, independence, family requests, or judicial processes. Placement is adjusted to the inmates’ needs. Every policy is implemented with the principles of legal certainty and respect for human rights.
